We’re all talking about sustainability these days. And it’s no longer just about recycling cans and bottles. It’s about rethinking the way we live and work with the goal of building a better, happier and brighter future for ourselves and those who follow.
With HONOLULU Magazine’s Our Planet Live in Concert making its debut in the Islands at the Hawai‘i Theatre Centre this month, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the efforts our Gold sponsor has made to create a better Hawai‘i.

Even as a leading international luxury brand, but BMW Hawai‘i is a group that keeps their priorities close to home. This year, it became the recipient of BMW Group’s Excellence in Sustainability Award for its green efforts. The award highlights best practices at dealerships across key areas including CO2 emission reduction, promoting electric mobility options—such as its all-electric series—and more.

It extends far beyond the dealership, too. When the catastrophic wildfires ravaged Maui, Dennis Short, president of BMW Hawai‘i, asked a very simple question: “What can we do today that will sustain tomorrow?” It was a crisis that needed quick, immediate action. BMW of Maui became a designated Red Cross headquarters, and its vehicles became essential transporters for supply missions. Short contacted national manufacturing partners for clothing donations, and BMW Group donated $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Maui Relief Fund.
No matter where you live, work, play or travel to, we are all stewards of the land we walk on. HONOLULU is proud to have BMW Hawai‘i as our Gold sponsor as we celebrate the beauty of our ‘āina with Our Planet Live in Concert.
